We are happy to have been allowing supporters to give for free to the causes they choose for 18 years and we have given away over £2.25million in that time. Our shopping “machine” needs an upgrade and the cost to do this is not the best use of our resources.
Frequently asked questions
Closing Shop&Give
Why are you closing Shop&Give?
When does the Shop&Give close?
The official closure date is 30th September 2024 but cause and supporters accounts will close at the end of August 2024.
Can I continue to give for free?
Yes, we have partnered with Give as you Live Online so supporters can continue to give for free to the causes that matter to them with no disruption in their fundraising.
Why did you partner with Give as you Live Online?
We have known and had a good relationship with Give as you Live Online for a number of years and feel that our morals, vision and mission are aligned so when we made the decision to close Shop&Give, it was the perfect solution for our causes and their supporters. By partnering with Give as you Live Online, supporters and causes will have a seamless transition to continue their fundraising.
Our Donate Now facility will also close as this facility is on the same platform as our Shop&Give. You will be able to make direct donations on the Give as you Live website.
Donations to TheGivingMachine will still be possible.
What happens to the GivingLottery?
There will be no changes to the GivingLottery, we plan to continue growing this and enabling good causes to sign up for free and receive regular unrestricted funds.
As a cause what happens to my balance?
If your balance is over £15 and we have your bank details, we will make a final payment to you. This will be after the Shop&Give and Donate Now platforms have closed.
We plan to pay all causes due a payment by the end of October to allow for transactions to be paid to us by retailers.
Do I need to let my supporters know about the closure?
We are informing all supporters of the closure, so you do not need to do so.
What if we still have payments due from retailers?
By delaying the final payment, we hope to have received most payments from retailers but holiday donations do not come in until after the event. In these cases the donations will be transferred to TheGivingMachine community fund.
How do I move my cause account to Give as you Live Online?
